Here are 9 vegetarian plant-based meatless recipes to try on the grill this summer. You won’t even miss the meat!
When you think of barbecue and grill season, you probably think of meat. But if you’re trying to eat more plant-based and less animal protein, it can be tricky to find non-meat grill recipes. Here are some recipes to try: vegetarian, meat-less, plant-based and delicious dinner ideas! Some of these are favorites I’ve made before and we loved, and others are new recipes I plan on making very soon.
These are great meals to bring to the pool and grill for dinner, or bring to a barbecue with friends.
Plant-Based Meatless Grill Recipes To Try
Grilled Pizzas

The toppings options are endless and so good when they’re grilled. Some of my favorite grilled veggie pizza combos are:
- Marinara loaded with sliced veggies like zucchini, mushrooms, bell pepper and topped with extra sharp cheddar cheese or mozzarella.
- Roasted red potatoes and caramelized yellow onion topped with mozzarella and fresh dill
- Pesto topped with broccoli, mushrooms and goat cheese
- I have more pizza toppings ideas in a pizza post HERE.
Rainbow Vegetable Skewers from Pure Wow

Isn’t eating the rainbow so pretty? Add some mushrooms to this and a quinoa salad for an easy dinner that will fill you up too. I also love how each type of veggie is on a separate skewer since some veggies may need to grill a little longer.
Grilled Sweet Potato Wedges

If you have a smoker, sweet potatoes take on such a good flavor from being smoked. They’re also delicious grilled. Slice them up (keep the skin on), sprinkle a little avocado oil (it has a higher smoke point than olive oil) and salt, then place the wedges on the grill or smoker. Keep an eye out for them, and grill or smoke them until they are fork tender. These are really good as a side dish or appetizer dipped in chipotle Bitchin Sauce.
Grilled Vegetable Sandwich with Basil Goat Cheese from Greens N Chocolate

There’s a sandwich at Nugget Markets similar to this one that was always my go-to lunch when I worked nearby and it was so good. The basil goat cheese sounds like it would be so good with the grilled veggies and I’m looking forward to trying it. It would be delicious with sourdough or focaccia.
Simple Grilled Veggies from Foodie Crush

Grilled veggies are the perfect summer grilling dinner. I love serving them alongside brown rice, a salad or black beans and quinoa. Yum.
Grilled Sourdough Caprese Skewers from Pure Wow

Don’t these look so good? And simple. It would be a delicious dinner alongside grilled corn and a big green salad. I plan on making these very soon. I think it would be really good too with a drizzle of Trader Joe’s Balsamic Glaze too.
Grilled Brussels Sprouts from The Gracious Wife

I’ve never tried grilling Brussels sprouts but they look so good. These would be so delicious with a Caesar salad, like Oh She Glows Vegan Caesar.
Grilled Tostadas

Tostadas are such an easy and yummy meal. Instead of baking them, top the corn tortillas with a spoonful of mashed or vegetarian refried black or pinto beans, with an optional sprinkle of cheese and grill for a few minutes. Then take them off the grill and add your favorite toppings, like shredded lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, salsa, guacamole, fresh cilantro, lime juice.
General Tso’s Grilled Cauliflower Kebabs from Eat Well 101

I plan on making these soon with a few healthier tweaks to the recipe. Instead of canola oil I’ll use avocado oil; and instead of corn starch I’ll use arrowroot powder. I’ll serve this with coconut jasmine rice, and some fresh pineapple.
I hope these recipes inspire you to try some vegetarian recipes on the grill this summer. If you have a favorite meat-less grill recipe, please share it in the comments so I can give it a try too.
Happy cooking!
